This dissertation aims to answer the following key question: How to manage the conflict between conservation and recreation in Hong Kong’s country parks? These two concepts seem to be contradictory as it is widely recognized that visitors can have negative impacts on the environment and biodiversity. On the other hand, current practices will be looked into so as to identify planning potentials to handle or minimize such conflict.
The following research questions will be addressed in this dissertation:
1.What are the current management practices in terms of conservation and recreation in Hong Kong, including their advantages and disadvantages?
2. What are the satisfaction levels towards Hong Kong country parks’ conservation and recreation management?
3.What are some of the suggestions to the management of country parks?
